Once arrived the receptionist was lovely and quickly signed us in. We was asked if we would like red or white wine. A first for us as usually we just get what we're given no questions asked. Although small I loved the look of the room! With the 3 big windows at the front the room was bright and cheerful with a view of the open land with trees and a stream. I liked how the bathroom was laid out. Down a mini hall as to say instead of the usual box room.
Unfortunately the kitchen was under development during our stay (I was informed beforehand) so feel I can't really judge the hotels potential regarding food. We were given a set menu for our starter and desert and a buffet for mains. My started was lovely (Greek salad) but felt that the main was a bit meh. Everything was ok but basic BBQ food such as burgers, corn on the cob and chicken wings. I was expecting a bit more class but then again they were down a kitchen. The boyfriend was not impressed at all and was still hungry by the time we left for bed but didn't fancy spending £20 on room service for a pizza.
Although pretty looking the rooms walls and windows are as thin as paper. I could hear everything clearly from outside. Luckily it wasn't to noisy outside as you are away from traffic. Our room was hot but the hotel supplied a massive fan in our room that rotated. Was a total life saver! The bed itself was comfy and I slept cosy throughout the night. Breakfast was a standard buffet. Just like our main course it was nothing special but it got the job done.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here but feel I can't fully judge De Vere Warbrook House and Grange Hotel as I didn't experience their food to their full standard. I would return here only if I found another Groupon deal.
