How to make pfannkuchen (German Pancakes)

pfannkuchen, german pancakes with cream, sugar and maple syrup

As you know Pancake Day is on Tuesday 28th February. If you don't know make sure you add it in your diary!
I decided I wanted to try a different recipe and came across pfannkuchen by The German Mom. It looked quick and easy so of course I had to try it for myself. I love that you can have this as a sweet or savoury dish!

What you will need (makes 2 pancakes)
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Big tablespoons of flour
  • 90ml of milk
I used 2 eggs, 4 tablespoons flour, 180ml of milk and vanilla extract to sweeten it up. This made 4 pancakes.

Instructions

1. Heat a pan on a medium/low heat.

2. While pan is heating up beat the eggs together, beat the milk into the eggs and then add the flour and beat into the mixture.

3. Add a bit of oil to the pan then use a ladle to get the right amount of mixture for one pancake and add to the pan.

4. Once the bottom of the pancake has browned flip it over and cook the other side.

5. Serve.

These are perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner and takes a few minutes to make. Looking forward to experimenting with toppings! I had cream, sugar and maple syrup on my pancakes however you can have fruit, chocolate, cheese, bacon, to be honest the list goes on!

I made this recipe as part of #InghamsFoodieFinds cookbook where the recipes are all inspired by European destinations! You can check out other recipes here.
