Are recipe subscription boxes worth it?

I was given the opportunity by Tornado to try one of their clients recipe kits. The kit was from a company called Gousto.

I love the idea of just picking a recipe that catches my eye, the ingredients get sent to my door and all I have to do is follow the recipe given. However, I didn't know if the boxes are actually worth the money or what to even expect tbh.

I was given the choice to pick 2 recipes that serves 2 people. I decided to try make the following:

• Chicken Cacciatore with Crispy Potatoes
• Posh Open Burger and Rosemary Chips

There was so many tasty recipes to pick from! And they informed you the ingredients you would need at home for each one. Once at the check out you was also given the option to add extras like wine and dessert. I held back though!

The box arrived on my selected date and I love how even if you are not in there is no need to hurry back as the food is stored in a cool bag and can be left for up to 24 hours.

WE GOT A FREE SPOON! You have no idea how excited I got about that haha. The ingredients were clearly labelled and in the exact amount needed. The instructions were easy to follow too. Even if you're not a kitchen wiz like me!

The only thing I had a problem with was the onion. I ended up using my own because there was a few layers that needed to be removed from the onion they gave.

I loved cooking the recipes and making things I wouldn't normally make like my own homemade ketchup! Out of the 2 meals the posh burger was definitely my favourite one. But they were both tasty.

Although this is a subscription box it is flexible and you can cancel or 'pause' at any time, Prices vary depending how many you want however the above would of cost £27.49. I really enjoyed cooking the recipes and you obviously keep the recipe card so can cook again whenever you like! 

For someone like me who doesn't know how to cook, has no idea how to follow 'restaurant quality' recipes and finds it hard to fit the time to get the ingredients as well as ideas this is perfect. Considering you get all the ingredients (minus salt, pepper and oil) and in the amount needed I think it's worth the money. 

They update their website regularly with new recipes so you will always find something to cook. Will be picking out some new meals again!
