The Trouville Hotel - Bournemouth

I love Bournemouth. Me and my boyfriend have visited here a few times. Usually for a relaxing weekend away. We noticed The Trouville Hotel had a deal going on Groupon that was to good not to get!
The deal was, for £149 you got:
  • 2 nights stay in a standard room
  • Bed and breakfast both mornings
  • 3 course meal & wine both nights
  • Bottle of champagne on arrival
  • Spa access
  • 25% off spa treatments
  • Free onsite parking
What a bargain right?! The Trouville Hotel is a 3* hotel located a 3 minute walk from the beach. Amazing location to stay as the town centre is also less than a 10 minute walk away.

The room

Considering we had a standard double room I was surprised at how big the room and bathroom was which was a plus.

Our bottle of champagne was waiting for us on arrival in a bucket of ice along with tea facilities and biscuits. I thought the ice bucket was a nice touch considering some hotels we have been in just left the bottle on a table warm!

The room was slightly dated and could of done with a fresh coat of paint however this isn't a big issue for me. We were located at the front of the hotel by the road. Noise wasn't an issue. The only issues I had with the room was that 1) the floorboards were noisy but I couldn't hear anyone elses floorboards 2) there was no light above the dressing table.

The facilities

Their facilities consisted of a gym, pool, jacuzzi and sauna. They also offer beauty treatments at a reasonable price. Unfortunately we were unable to experience any of their treatments as they were completed booked up both days. We did call up about a month in advance so keep that in mind.

Although slightly small I found the facilities fine. Could of done with more chairs around the pool but there is limited space. The pool wasn't to deep which I actually preferred as I'm not the strongest swimmer.

The gym is based in the hall way from the changing rooms to the pool which I thought could be slightly dangerous. Reason being if you were someone like me who didn't bring flipflops the floor becomes slippery.

One thing I did hate was the changing rooms. They were big enough to fit 2 people in max. I'm not that comfortable with getting naked in front of strangers, or even friends for the matter! So I had to wait a few times in the hallway till it was free. Luckily the door does have a lock.

The food

Dinner

Plum tomato and mozzarella salad with avocado pure

Spinach, mushroom and mascarpone strudel
Vanilla cheesecake with a berry sauce
I was so impressed with the food at The Trouville Hotel. The menu was slightly limited with about 4 options for each course but my very fussy boyfriend and myself were still able to find something to eat. Food came quickly so there was no long waits but you didn't feel rushed while eating there. Everything was tasty I could of happily been eating it all day! I want to go back just to try more of their dishes!

Leek and potato soup

Salmon with a hollandaise sauce with veg and potatoes

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Breakfast

Breakfast was buffet style serving hot and cold food. There was cereals, fruits and your typical English breakfast (I would of liked some mushrooms but you can't expect everything).

It was stated that it was continental which in my head means cold meats, pastries, cheeses etc. but there was no sign of those. I didn't like how they brought your toast out with your drinks as both mornings our toast was cold.

The service/staff

Now, this is the main reason why I enjoyed my stay at The Trouville Hotel, followed closely by the food. Everyone was so friendly that I didn't want to leave! Our check in went quickly as well as our check out, the cleaners did a great job keeping our rooms clean and when visiting the restaurant we wasn't left waiting around for ages to be seated. While eating the waitress had a laugh with us and was very helpful. I also liked that she would tell us what was included with our Groupon instead of me having to ask. Even little things like when we collected our towels the man at the front desk asked if we had a £1 for the lockers. It's little things like that that impress me.

Would I come back to The Trouville Hotel?

Definitely! When I looked at the reviews for this hotel before arriving I was slightly dreading it as some of the reviews wasn't the best. But I think the reason being is because people forget that this is actually a 3* hotel not 5*. You can't pay 3* prices and expect 5* service! I was very happy with my stay and the people really topped it off. Me and Joe are actually looking to go back in the summer.

I also vlogged my weekend away here if you fancy seeing what we got up to.
