Recent Reads #1

January is always a sad month. I'm cold, pale and broke. None of those 3 things make me happy and I don't see February warming up any time soon either! However, this did mean I got to read more than usual. I didn't realise how much I missed reading!

Doesn't Everyone Have a Secret? by Sue Shepherd

I got so sucked into this book and would highly recommend it as an easy holiday read. It's about 3 different people and their lives along with the 'little voice' in their heads. The book is full of surprises and events that will have you full of emotions. It got to the point I was telling my sister what was happening like they were part of my life!

Sex, Lies and Chocolate Cakes by Steven Morris

I finished this book in a day. This wasn't because I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down, more because I was hoping it would get better only to find out it wasn't the full book. At least I hope that was the case because it was only 115 pages long and seem to suddenly come to a close. The book is set out in the style of a diary, husband and father of 2 who is currently trying to lose weight. The book wasn't all bad. There was some points that made me 'ha' but that was it. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you like predictability.

Fat Chance by Nick Spalding

Another book in the style of 2 diaries, a couple both trying to lose weight to win a competition. This book is 100% better than the last book mentioned! The main characters are very likeable and you really start to cheer them on throughout the competition. Plenty of laugh out loud moments that I actually started to agree with everything they were saying. There is swearing in the book but that just make the characters more 'like us' and relatable.
