£20 makeup challenge

When I go shopping I rarely set myself a budget. Doing this challenge made me realise how expensive makeup really is and how quickly it can add up. I'm not going to lie to you, I failed the challenge. Even though I lost the receipt I know I went over by 47p! How annoying! Below is the look I came up with as well as my first impressions of the products used.

Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Oil Free Foundation - Nude
I couldn't afford a primer so I had to go straight to foundation. I went for a matte finish foundation because I couldn't afford a press powder either. Luckily this matched my skin colour and was easy to blend. I did have to put two coats on though as this isn't full coverage. Depending how well it lasts this may be good for an everyday foundation.

MUA Cover & Conceal Wand - Fair
Well this colour was very light compared to my foundation which is what I was after. However, did this cover up my dark circles? No. I was already on the second layer and was worried about it looking cakey so just left it. It didn't help with my spots much either.

Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette 2 - Nude Bronze

I loved the colours in this palette but I hate the product itself. It was impossible to blend and I ended up giving up. Apologies that I couldn't come up with a decent eye look. I used the colours Mink and Nutty. So disappointed because the colours are beautiful and shimmery.

MUA Eyebrow Pencil - Brunette

I HATE this product. It's a creamy pencil that is impossible to blend. They made my eyebrows look to dark and personally I hate that look on me because I'm not used to it. The brush on the end was useless as well. Nope not for me.

No brow gel either so my eyebrows are all over the place!

Collection Colour Lash Mascara - Black 2
This isn't a bad mascara. It doesn't add volume to my lashes but it did separate them nicely. No clumping and added a tad bit of length. I would used this as my everyday mascara for work.

Makeup Revolution Bronzer

I thought that the packaging was cute having a mirror at the back. This is a very light bronzer but can be buildable without looking orange. Blends easily and handy to just throw into your bag.

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder - Iridescent Gold

I actually really like this highlighter. It gives a subtle gold shin to my cheeks. It doesn't show up as well in pictures as it does in person. I'm going to purchase the other 2 in the Under The Skin range and see what they're like.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick - Bliss

This colour is nice but nothing special. It's a peachy pink and would be good for spring. The product itself is very pigmented and you don't need a lot. I learnt the hard way and had to take some off. Doesn't dry out my lips and pretty impressed considering it's £1.

And now for the final look. Watch out for the crazy eyebrows.

  2. Loved the end result Jasmine! And I agree with Milana, kiko has very good and cheap products. And although I have an acne prone skin, I haven't had issues with anything I bought from them. :)

  3. This is such a pretty look! A huge shame about the Collection eyeshadow palette. I've nearly bought it a couple of times as an affordable alternative to the Naked Basics palette & am so glad I put it back each time now! The eyebrow pencil might not work in person, but it comes across nicely on camera. I've had my eyes on the MUA highlighters (all 3, because I'm greedy!) so will definitely be picking those up in the near future! Xx

    1. Thank you. I was gutted when the palette wasn't to the standard I hoped for as the colours are so nice. I would definitely recommend the highlighters.
